They are single shot guns that means you will need to cock the gun every time you would like to fire one of the plastic bbs. This will get exasperating at times but these guns can be bought for only a few greenbacks. With a gas powered airsoft rifle or pistol you do not need to cock the gun each time because it has got a gas charge built in. This additional power comes at an additional cost – the gas should be refilled. This is achieved with co2 cartridges or a cartable hand pump. For the added cost gas airsoft guns definitely feel more like the “real thing”.

A note of caution however – if a paintball breaks within an AEG it can block up the complete firing mechanism meaning you will have to strip the gun down and clean it. You should buy an airsoft gun for under $20. That doesn’t make it inexpensively – just very top value for cash.
